Pulmonary Artery Sarcoma CT Findings

  • Mass may enhance or remain isodense on the CTA of the pulmonary arteries
  • Mass may show lobulations with septations
  • May fill in entire vessel lumen which is uncommon with pulmonary embolism
  • Can range in size from 1-20cm

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • More common in females
  • Large range of ages, median age around 45-52

Presentation:

  • Chest pain
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever
  • Hemoptysis
  • Syncope
  • Fatigue

Prognosis:

  • Poor
  • Patients typically succumb within a few months
