  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Central necrosis
  • Variable enhancement
  • Homogeneous
  • Lobulated, round masses
  • Mesenteric lymph nodes encase the mesenteric vessels (“sandwich sign”)

Other Information About Hodgkin Lymphoma

Etiology:

  • Unknown
  • Associated with Epstein-Barr virus
  • More common in patients with HIV and other immunocompromising conditions
  • Familial history of HL increases the risk

Epidemiology:

  • More common in males
  • Bimodal: typically presents between ages 20-40 or after age 65

Presentation:

  • Palpable mass
  • Fever
  • Malaise
  • Anorexia
  • Weight loss
  • Pruritus
  • Night sweats
  • Cough
  • Dyspnea

Prognosis:

  • The 5-year relative survival rate for all Hodgkin Lymphoma is:
    • Localized: 93%
    • Regional: 95%
    • Distant: 84%
    • All SEER stages combined: 89%
