Bronchogenic Cyst CT Findings

  • Rounded structures with water or soft tissue density
  • Well defined and homogenous
  • Unilocular, rounded or spherical
  • Smooth margins
  • Most commonly found in mediastinum
  • Usually < 10cm
  • Low attenuation (0-10 HU)
  • Can compress surrounding structures

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Slight prevalence in males
  • Diagnosed at 3rd-4th decade of life

Presentation:

  • Usually asymptomatic

Prognosis:

  • Usually treated with surgical resection or drainage depending on size and location
