COVID Pneumonia CT Findings

  • Ground Glass Opacity more commonly found in lower lobes
  • Multilobar subpleural GGO seen in most cases
  • Vascular enlargement and traction bronchiectasis are common
  • “Crazy paving” pattern and reverse halo sign have been reported

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Affects all ages
  • Patients >60 have greater chance of severe disease
  • Preexisting medical conditions contribute to greater chance of severe disease (obesity, smoking, cancer, etc)

Presentation:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Prognosis:

  • Higher fatality for rate for those with preexisting medical conditions and/or over 60
