Gallbladder Abscess CT Findings
- Wall thickening > 3mm
- Poorly defined wall margins
- Intraluminal or intramural gas (cholecystitis)
- Low attenuation fluid collection
- Rim enhancement which may extend into the liver

Other Information About Gallbladder Abscess
Etiology:
- Typically a result of cholelithiasis and cholecystitis
Epidemiology:
- Rare
- More common in males
- Typically presents between ages 50-70
Presentation:
- Abdominal pain that may radiate to the shoulder
- Fever
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Anorexia
- Abdominal distension
- Tachycardia
Prognosis:
- A gallbladder abscess should be immediately treated with surgery
- Prognosis after surgery is very good
