Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) CT Findings

  • Multiple renal cysts
  • Vascular mass or enhancing mural nodule
  • Bilateral ccRCCs may develop

Other Information About Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL)

Etiology:

  • Genetic mutation
  • May be inherited genetically

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • Can present at any age

Presentation:

  • VHL does not cause symptoms by itself but can cause tumors which cause a variety of symptoms, depending on the tumor
  • Common tumors include RCC, hemangioblastoma, pancreatic lesions and pheochromocytomas

Prognosis:

  • Patients with VHL have an increased risk of tumors both benign and malignant
