  • Calcification in renal pyramids is the most common
  • High attenuation
  • Calculi are of variable size

Other Information About Nephrocalcinosis

Etiology:

  • Caused by destructive diseases including polycystic kidney disease, pyelonephritis, TB, medullary sponge kidney, etc.

Epidemiology:

  • Typically presents in the pediatric population

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Polyuria
  • Polydipsia
  • Hypertension

Prognosis:

  • Nephrocalcinosis is not curable
  • Prognosis depends on the cause of the disease
