Calyceal Diverticulum CT Findings
- Pelvicalyceal system diverticula communicates with the central collection system
- Well defined
- Thin wall
- Low density
- Can be empty or filled with urine
- May have stones and/or calcifications
- Typically up to 7.5cm but can be larger
- Type 1:
- Most commonly in upper pole
- Diverticula communicates with a renal calyx
- Type II:
- Located in the interpolar region
- Diverticula communicates with the renal pelvis
- Typically larger than Type I

Etiology:
- Unknown
Epidemiology:
- Rare
- Can present at any age
Presentation:
- Asymptomatic
Prognosis:
- Calyceal diverticulum is benign
