Crossed Renal Ectopia CT Findings
- Both kidneys on the same side
- Ureteral opening on primary side of bladder
- Crossed-unfused renal ectopia:
- Ectopic kidney does not fuse with normal kidney
- Less common
- Crossed-fused renal ectopia:
- Ectopic kidney fuses with the normal kidney
- Ectopic kidney typically inferior to normal kidney
- Associated with additional vascular anomalies
- More common

Etiology:
- Congenital
Epidemiology:
- Rare
- More common in males
Presentation:
- Typically asymptomatic
- Flank pain
- Palpable mass
- Hematuria
- Dysuria
Prognosis:
- CRE is usually benign
- Symptoms are usually caused by secondary conditions which should be treated
