Kidney CT Appearances
Urothelial Transitional Cell Carcinoma CT Findings
- Single or multiple sessile filling defects that compress the renal sinus fat
- Pelvicaliceal irregularities (stricture like)
- Focal or diffuse mural thickening
- Caliceal amputation
- Tumor filled distended calices
- May be multifocal including ureter and bladder
Other Information About Urothelial TCC
Etiology:
- Smoking increases risk
Epidemiology:
- Male to female ratio 2:1
- Most common in 7th and 8th decades of life
Presentation:
- Hematuria
- Back pain
Prognosis:
- Overall 5-year survival rate is 76%
