Staghorn Calculus CT Findings
- Renal calculi that branch into multiple calyces
- Renal pelvis is classically involved
- The branching appears like stag horns, thus the name “staghorn” calculus
- May be associated with XGP
Other Information About Staghorn Calculus
Etiology:
- Frequent UTIs
- Urinary tract malformations
- Catheter use
- Neurogenic bladder
Epidemiology:
- More common in females
- Can occur at any age
Presentation:
- Fever
- Hematuria
- Abdominal pain
Prognosis:
- Mortality rate is about 30% with treatment
