Chronic Pyelonephritis CT Findings
- Focal cortical scarring, typically in the polar region
- Cortical thinning
- Pelvicalyceal dilatation
- Blunting of calyceal fornices
- Irregular contours of the calyces
- Global atrophy
- Loss of renal volume
- Hypertrophy of uninvolved segments

Other Information About Chronic Pyelonephritis
Etiology:
- Caused by recurrent bacterial infections
- Cases with no known infection have been documented
Epidemiology:
- More commonly presents in the pediatric population
Presentation:
- Flank and/or abdominal pain
- Fever
- Dysuria
- Recurrent UTIs
Prognosis:
- Chronic pyelonephritis does not have a cure but symptoms can be treated
