Bosniak 3 Cyst CT Findings

  • Cyst may be multilocular, hemorrhagic, and/or infected
  • Wall is irregularly thick with enhancement
  • Irregular or nodular calcification
  • Findings are suspicious for renal cell carcinoma

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Typically presents after age 50

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Abdominal or flank pain
  • Fever
  • Hematuria

Prognosis:

  • About half of Bosniak 3 cysts are malignant
