Synovial Sarcoma CT Findings

  • Well-circumscribed soft tissue mass
  • Round or oval
  • Punctate peripheral calcifications
  • > 5cm
  • Heterogeneous enhancement
  • Multi-nodular morphology
  • Most common in the lower extremities

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • More common in males
  • Typically presents before age 40

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Palpable mass
  • Pain of the affected area

Prognosis:

  • The 5-year relative survival rate for synovial sarcoma is about 30-60%
