Schwannoma CT Findings
- Well-defined soft tissue masses
- Iso-attenuating with contrast
- May be round, oval, or lobulated
- Typically of low CT attenuation
Other Information About Schwannoma
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Associated with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 and schwannomatosis
Epidemiology:
- Rare
- Usually presents in adulthood
Presentation:
- Palpable mass
- Pain
- Numbness and/or tingling
- Muscle weakness
- Vestibular schwannoma may cause hearing loss, ringing in ears, and coordination issues
Prognosis:
- Schwannomas are usually benign
- The tumors can usually be removed completely with surgery
