Hepatic Sarcoidosis CT Findings

  • Hepatomegaly
  • Homogeneous enhancement of the parenchyma
  • May have low-density intrahepatic septa
  • Some cases have hypodense masses or focal nodules
  • Can look similar to lymphoma

Other Information About Hepatic Sarcoidosis

Etiology:

  • Unknown
  • May be associated with PEG-IFN

Epidemiology:

  • More common in people of African ancestry

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • RUQ pain
  • Arthralgia

Prognosis:

  • Hepatic sarcoidosis can usually be watched or managed
  • HS can be premalignant in a very small percentage of cases
