  • Hypoattenuating liver
  • Bold, intrahepatic vessels especially on contrast CT
  • Liver < 48 HU
  • Liver minus spleen difference of < -10 HU

Etiology:

  • Obesity
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking

Epidemiology:

  • More common in males
  • Most common over the age of 50
  • Can occur in children and young adults

Presentation:

  • Asymptomatic

Prognosis:

  • Fatty Liver Disease is benign but may lead to serious complications
  • FLD has no cure but can be managed
