Kaposi Sarcoma CT Findings
- Hypoattenuating, low-attenuation nodules
- Irregular enlargement of the hilum and peripheral portal branches
- Polypoid submucosal masses
- Masses with or without central ulceration
- Irregular fold thickening
- Hepatomegaly and/or splenomegaly
- May look like hemangioma

Other Information About Kaposi Sarcoma
Etiology:
- HHV-8 infection
Epidemiology:
- Significantly more common in males
- Patient with HIV, organ transoplants, or other immunocompromising conditions are more susceptible
- Typically presents after age 40
Presentation:
- Cutaneous lesion which may have discoloration
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Swelling of the lower extremities
Prognosis:
- The 5-year relative survival rates for Kaposi sarcoma are:
- Localized: 84%
- Regional: 64%
- Distant: 50%
- All SEER stages combined: 75%
