Small Bowel Lymphangioma CT Findings

  • Multiloculated large thin walled cystic mass
  • Usually in mesentery when it involves the GI tract
  • Can simulate a mesenteric cyst, duplicated cyst, cystic pancreatic mass or in theory an abscess

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • Can present at any age, and mainly found in pediatric patients
  • More common in male pediatric patients and female adult patients

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • GI bleed
  • Abdominal pain
  • Anemia

Prognosis:

  • The prognosis with surgical resection is good
  • Patients must be monitored for complications
