Small Bowel Hemorrhage CT Findings

• Diffuse or multifocal
• Circumferential thickening of bowel wall
• Thickening can be varying length
• Most common in jejunum
• Best seen without IV contrast

Etiology:

• Angioectasias
• NSAID use
• Crohn’s disease
• Polyps
• Ulcers
• Malignancy

Epidemiology:

• Can present at any age

Presentation:

• Hematochezia
• Melena
• Anemia
• Dizziness

Prognosis:

• The prognosis depends on the cause of the hemorrhage
