Enteritis CT Findings

  • Diffuse bowel wall thickening
  • Thickened and blurred mucosal folds
  • Lymphadenopathy

Other Information About Enteritis

Etiology:

  • Infectious Enteritis is caused by infection (food poisoning)
  • Inflammatory Enteritis is caused by autoimmune diseases such as Crohn’s disease and Celiac disease
  • Radiation enteritis is due to radiation therapy or chemotherapy
  • Ischemic Enteritis is caused by ischemia (see more)

Epidemiology:

  • Enteritis can affect patients of any age

Presentation:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Fever
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diarrhea

Prognosis:

  • Treatment depends on the cause of the enteritis, but it can be cured in most cases
