Crohn's Disease (Active) CT Findings
- Mucosal hyperenhancement
- Wall thickening
- Mural stratification (seeing bowel layers) with prominent vasa recta (comb sign)
- Mesenteric fat stranding
Other Information About Crohn's Disease
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Familial history
Epidemiology:
- Typically presents in adolescence through age 35
Presentation:
- Diarrhea
- Hematochezia
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Ulcers in the mouth
- Anorexia and/or weight loss
Prognosis:
- There is no current cure for Crohn’s disease but it can be managed and patients can live a full life
