Spleen CT Appearances
Accessory Spleen CT Findings
- Well-marginated round masses
- Between 3mm and 20mm
- Homogeneous enhancement
- Can be solitary or multiple
- Typically in left upper quadrant but can appear anywhere
Other Information About Accessory Spleens
Etiology:
- Congenital
- Can occur after splenosis
Epidemiology:
- Anyone is susceptible to get an accessory spleen
Presentation:
- Typically asymptomatic
- Abdominal pain
Prognosis:
- Accessory spleens are benign
- Symptomatic patients may have theirs surgically removed
