Reactive Gastropathy (Chemical Gastritis) CT Findings

  • Focal antral wall thickening
  • Adjacent fat stranding
  • May directly visualize ulcer(s)
  • Assess for fistula formation

Other Information About Reactive Gastropathy (Chemical Gastritis)

Etiology:

  • NSAID use
  • Chronic bile reflux
  • Chronic alcohol use

Epidemiology:

  • More common in females
  • Risk increases with age

Presentation:

  • Epigastric pain or discomfort
  • Indigestion
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal distension
  • Nausea and/or vomiting

Prognosis:

  • Prognosis is good with treatment
