Polypoid Tumor CT Findings

  • Dimpling (puckering of GI tract’s outer wall)
  • Vessel invagination (folded back on itself)
  • Dimpling > 3.5mm can indicate advanced cancer

Other Information About Polypoid Tumors

Etiology:

  • Chronic gastritis or other gastric infection (H. pylori)
  • Extended PPI use
  • Familial history

Epidemiology:

  • Most commonly present in middle aged patients

Presentation:

  • Most polypoid tumors are asymptomatic and discovered incidentally

Prognosis:

  • Polypoid tumors are benign but premalignant
