Gastric Lipoma CT Findings

  • Well circumscribed
  • Fat attenuation (-70 to -120 HU)
  • May have ulceration centrally although usually in tumors under 6cm
  • Always benign

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • Typically present in the 5th-6th decades of life

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Large tumors can cause GI bleed, gastric outlet obstruction and abdominal pain

Prognosis:

  • Gastric lipomas are benign
  • Complications from large tumors can be life-threatening
