Gastric Carcinoid Tumor CT Findings
- Submucosal mass(es)
- Usually 1-4cm
- May have gastric fold thickening
- Usually hypervascular
- Can be multiple especially with syndromes likes Zollinger-Ellison
Other Information About Gastric Carcinoid Tumors
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Associated with MEN1
Epidemiology:
- Typically present in the 6th-7th decades of life
- More common in patients with African ancestry
Presentation:
- Typically asymptomatic and found incidentally
Prognosis:
- The 5-year relative survival rates for all GI carcinoid tumors is:
- Localized: 97%
- Regional: 96%
- Distant: 68%
- All SEER stages combined: 94%
