  • Submucosal mass(es)
  • Usually 1-4cm
  • May have gastric fold thickening
  • Usually hypervascular
  • Can be multiple especially with syndromes likes Zollinger-Ellison

Etiology:

  • Unknown
  • Associated with MEN1

Epidemiology:

  • Typically present in the 6th-7th decades of life
  • More common in patients with African ancestry

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic and found incidentally

Prognosis:

  • The 5-year relative survival rates for all GI carcinoid tumors is:
    • Localized: 97%
    • Regional: 96%
    • Distant: 68%
    • All SEER stages combined: 94%
