Gastrocolic Fistula CT Findings

  • Local inflammation (fat stranding, wall thickening)
  • Visualization of fistula
  • Early contrast in distal colon
  • Can be a complication of ulcer as well as iatrogenic

Etiology:

  • Malignancy of the GI tract

Epidemiology:

  • Very rare
  • Typically presents in the 6th-7th decades of life

Presentation:

  • Feculent vomitus
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Weight loss
  • GI bleed

Prognosis:

  • As GC fistula is typically a late complication of malignancy, the prognosis is poor
