Menetrier Disease CT Findings

  • Typically seen in body and bottom of stomach
  • Localized or diffuse lesions
  • Thickening of gastric mucosa and mucosal folds
  • Delayed emptying
  • Twisted mucosal folds

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • Typically presents after age 30
  • More common in males

Presentation:

  • Epigastric pain
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss
  • Anorexia or early satiety
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Prognosis:

  • In children, Menetrier’s is usually spontaneous and resolves on its own
  • In adults, Menetrier’s is usually chronic and shortens lifespan
