Gastric Duplication Cyst CT Findings
- Well developed layer of smooth muscle with an epithelial lining
- Fluid attenuating
- Both attached to the stomach with the same muscle wall and blood supply
- Usually located along greater curvature
- Cystic (more common)
- Lumen is not contiguous with stomach
- Tubular (less common)
- Cyst communicates with stomach lumen
Other Information About Gastric Duplication Cysts
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Congenital
Epidemiology:
- Rare
- Typically present within the first year of life but can occur at any age
Presentation:
- Abdominal pain
- Vomiting
- Weight loss
- Palpable mass
Prognosis:
- The true prognosis is unknown because of the rarity of gastric duplication cysts
- Gastric duplication cysts must be resected
