Pancreas CT Appearances
Solid Pseudopapillary Epithelial Neoplasm (SPEN) Tumor CT Findings
- Average size is 5cm but range is 1-10cm
- Cystic and solid mass with capsule common
- Calcifications may be extensive especially around the border of the lesion
- Calcifications present in up to one third of cases
- Lesion location more common in the tail of the pancreas

Etiology:
- Unknown
Epidemiology:
- Male to female ratio is 1:10
- Typically presents in the 2nd to 3rd decades of life, but can present at any age
Presentation:
- Typically asymptomatic
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
Prognosis:
- SPEN tumors are most often benign
- 5-year relative survival rate for all SPEN tumors is about 95%
