Groove Pancreatitis CT Findings

  • Soft tissue thickening within pancreaticoduodenal groove
  • Small cystic lesions along medial duodenal wall
  • Pancreatic head is commonly involved and the duodenum is almost always involved

Etiology:

  • Excessive alcohol use

Epidemiology:

  • Most common during 5th and 6th decades of life
  • Male predominance

Presentation:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea and/or vomiting (particularly postprandial)
  • Weight loss

Prognosis:

  • GP can be managed with treatment
