Etiology:

  • Excessive alcohol use
  • Familial history
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • CP is often idiopathic

Epidemiology:

  • More common in males
  • Typically presents in 4th to 5th decades of life
  • More common in patients with African ancestry

Presentation:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Greasy or oily-looking stool with a foul smell

Prognosis:

  • CP symptoms can be managed, but untreated CP can be fatal
