- Parenchymal atrophy
- Dilated pancreatic duct
- Calcification in the late stages
Other Information About Chronic Pancreatitis
Etiology:
- Excessive alcohol use
- Familial history
- Cystic fibrosis
- CP is often idiopathic
Epidemiology:
- More common in males
- Typically presents in 4th to 5th decades of life
- More common in patients with African ancestry
Presentation:
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Greasy or oily-looking stool with a foul smell
Prognosis:
- CP symptoms can be managed, but untreated CP can be fatal
