Ulcerative Colitis CT Findings

  • Involves the large bowel, usually begins in the rectum
  • Extensive ulceration and diffuse inflammation of the mucosa
  • May have a granular mucosal pattern, mural thickening, luminal narrowing
  • Rectal narrowing and widening of presacral space indicate chronic UC

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Bimodal: usually diagnosed at age 15-30 and 50-70

Presentation:

  • Bloody diarrhea

Prognosis:

  • Chronic disease
