Appendicolith CT Findings

• Hyperdense structure
• Typically < 1cm
• Appendicoliths > 2cm are referred to as “giant”

Other Information About Appendicolith

Etiology:

• Unknown

Epidemiology:

• More common in males
• Typically presents before age 30

Presentation:

• Typically asymptomatic
• May present as appendicitis

Prognosis:

• Appendicolith is benign but could be removed to decrease the risk of appendicitis
