Cecal Carcinoma CT Findings
- Discrete soft-tissue mass that narrows the colonic lumen
- Large masses may undergo central necrosis and appear as a soft-tissue mass with central low attenuation or rarely air attenuation
- May appear as asymmetric nodular wall thickening that narrows the lumen
- May be difficult to distinguish from cecal lymphoma or occasional ischemic colitis or typhlitis

Etiology:
- Unknown
- Genetic changes may result in increased incidence
Epidemiology:
- > 50 years of age
- Slightly more prevalent in women
Presentation:
- Blood in stool
- Changes in bowel habits
- Abdominal pain
- Bloating
- Weight loss
- Vomiting
Prognosis:
- 5-year survival rate is 65%
