Sigmoid Colon Cancer CT Findings
- Discrete soft-tissue mass that narrows the colonic lumen
- Large masses may undergo central necrosis and appear as a soft-tissue mass with central low attenuation or rarely air attenuation
- May appear as asymmetric nodular wall thickening that narrows the lumen
- May not be able to distinguish from diverticulitis on CT
- Submucosal fat is not uncommon in UC

Etiology:
- Unknown
Epidemiology:
- > 50 years of age
- People of Black ancestry have increased incidence
Presentation:
- Change in bowel habits
- Blood in stool
- Abdominal cramps
- Gas
Prognosis:
- 5-year survival rate is about 70%
