Stercoral Colitis CT Findings
- Most commonly seen in the rectum
- Distended rectum
- Luminal distension
- Colon wall thickening >3mm
- Surrounding inflammatory changes
- Fecal impaction
Other Information About Stercoral Colitis
Etiology:
- Chronic constipation
Epidemiology:
- Most common in the elderly
Presentation:
- Abdominal discomfort or pain
- Abdominal distension
- Cramps
- Fever
- Vomiting
Prognosis:
- Can be treated if managed quickly but can progress to a more serious condition if left alone
