  • Usually involve a portion of the spleen
  • CT appearance can vary over time

Etiology:

  • Splenic infarction is caused by many diseases and conditions
  • Blood clots, disorders and cancers
  • Trauma
  • Pancreatic disorders

Epidemiology:

  • Anyone can have a splenic infarct

Presentation:

  • Abdominal pain

Prognosis:

  • The prognosis depends on the cause of the infarction
