Splenic Infarction CT Findings
- Wedge shaped areas of decreased attenuation which extend to the surface of the spleen
- Usually involve a portion of the spleen
- CT appearance can vary over time

Etiology:
- Splenic infarction is caused by many diseases and conditions
- Blood clots, disorders and cancers
- Trauma
- Pancreatic disorders
Epidemiology:
- Anyone can have a splenic infarct
Presentation:
- Abdominal pain
Prognosis:
- The prognosis depends on the cause of the infarction
