Sinusitis CT Findings
- Mucosal thickening
- Polyps
- Air-fluid level (acute)
- Thickened sinus bones (chronic)
- CT scan findings are not specific and present in approximately half of symptomatic patients

Other Information About Sinusitis
Etiology:
- Acute sinusitis can be caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and allergens
- The cause of chronic sinusitis is unknown
Epidemiology:
- Sinusitis can occur at any age during adolescence or adulthood
Presentation:
- Pressure around the nose, eyes and forehead
- Postnasal drip
- Stuffy and/or runny nose
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Acute sinusitis will resolve on its own
- Symptom management is an option for both acute and chronic sinusitis
