- Atherosclerosis
- Linked to smoking, alcohol, obesity, unhealthy diets, diabetes and hypertension
Epidemiology:
- Common
- Typically presents after age 50
Presentation:
- Typically asymptomatic
- Stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)
- Aphasia
- Vision impairment
- Headache
- Ataxia
- Symptoms of CAD usually occur suddenly
- Stroke can be fatal
- Atherosclerosis can be managed with lifestyle changes and medicine
