- Central thrombosis of the vein

Etiology:
- Blood clot
- Central venous catheter placement
- Trauma
- Malignancy
- Pregnant or oral contraceptive use
- IV drug use
Epidemiology:
- Typically presents after age 40
- More common in females
Presentation:
- Neck pain
- Neck swelling
- Headache
- Fever
Prognosis:
- JVT is a medical emergency that needs prompt attention
- Prognosis depends on the cause of the JVT and how promptly it is managed
