  • Homogeneous

Other Information About Meningioma

Etiology:

  • Unknown
  • Associated with NF2 and radiation therapy

Epidemiology:

  • More common females
  • Typically presents after age 60
  • More common in people with African ancestry

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Headache
  • Seizure
  • Impaired vision
  • Hearing loss
  • Unilateral facial weakness
  • Unilateral facial numbness and/or tingling
Prognosis:

  • Most meningiomas are benign but should be resected to prevent complications
  • The 5-year relative survival rate for adults is about 85-90%
