Other Information About Cranial Mycetoma
Etiology:
- Caused by fungi and bacteria
Epidemiology:
- Very rare
- Typically presents between ages 20-40
- More common in males
- Rural farmers are most commonly affected
- Most common in tropical and subtropical countries
Presentation:
- Swelling of the scalp
- Draining sinus
- Seizure
- Hemiparesis or hemiplegia
- Headache
Prognosis:
- Cranial mycetoma can be treated with antibiotics and antifungal medicine
- The mass can be surgically removed
