Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) CT Findings
- Ovarian vein dilation can be unilateral or bilateral
- Usually best seen on venous phase imaging
Other Information About Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS)
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Most commonly associated with pregnancy, particularly patients who have given birth more than once
Epidemiology:
- Usually presents between ages 20 and 45
- PCS is uncommon after menopause
Presentation:
- Abdominal pain or discomfort, particularly after standing
- Increased pain during the menstrual cycle
- Dyspareunia
- Varicose veins around the upper thighs and pelvis
- Dysuria, diarrhea and/or constipation
Prognosis:
- There is no cure for PCS but the symptoms can be managed with treatment
