Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma CT Findings
- Cystic mass
- Variable amount of solid tissue
- Calcified papillary projections are common
- May or may not be bilateral
- Carcinomatosis with tumor spread is not uncommon at presentation
Other Information About Ovarian Serous Cystadenoma
Etiology:
- Unknown
- Familial history increases risk
Epidemiology:
- Typically presents during the 6th and 7th decades of life but can occur at any age
Presentation:
- Early stages are often asymptomatic
- Abdominal distension
- Pelvic and/or abdominal pain
- Loss of appetite
- Polyuria
Prognosis:
- The 5-year relative survival rate for early stages is about 80%
- The prognosis for later stages is about 3-4 years
