  • Subcutaneous emphysema
  • More common in diabetes patients
  • Can be a surgical emergency

Etiology:

  • Infectious caused by gas-producing bacteria
  • Recurrent UTIs increase the risk of EC

Epidemiology:

  • Typically presents after age 60

Presentation:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Urinary urgency
  • Dysuria
  • Pneumaturia
  • Fever

Prognosis:

  • Typically treated with antibiotics
