Bladder Paraganglioma CT Findings

  • Round soft tissue density
  • Hyperdense
  • Homogeneous
  • Clear margins
  • Can be uniform or uneven
  • Arterial phase enhancement
  • Typically occurs in submucosa and muscularis mucosa
  • Highly vascularized
  • Average size is 2.5cm

Etiology:

  • Unknown
  • Linked to certain hereditary conditions

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • Typically presents in 4th-6th decades of life

Presentation:

  • Hematuria
  • Urinary tract obstruction
  • Palpitations
  • Dizziness
  • Hypertension
  • Micturition syncope

Prognosis:

  • Most cases are benign but metastases indicates malignancy
  • Simulated CT appearance of bladder cancer
