Papillary Fibroelastoma CT Findings
- Collection of avascular fronds of dense connective tissue lined by endothelium and may arise from any endocardial surface attached to valves by short pedicles
- Short pedicle and multiple papillary fronds
- Majority are found on the aortic and mitral valves
- Most papillary fibroelastomas are solitary and small
- Average diameter of 10mm
Other Information About Papillary Fibroelastoma
Etiology:
- Unknown
Epidemiology:
- Largely unknown as PFs are very rare
- Mean age is around 60 years
Presentation:
- Asymptomatic
- Some patients may have chest pain, syncope, or stroke
Prognosis:
- Good prognosis with tumor removal
