Etiology:

  • Linked with coronary artery disease

Epidemiology:

  • Generally affects patients > 45-50 years of age
  • More common in men

Presentation:

  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart palpitations
  • Upper extremity pain
  • Dizziness

Prognosis:

  • Mortality rate of 5-30% for the first myocardial infarction
  • Rate increases with each subsequent MI
